Family A and B back payment

Family A and B back payment

Hi there,
This is my first time posting please be kind. I have been struggling with Anxiety and Bipolar Disorder for most of my life but since the birth of my last child just on two years ago I have really struggled. I have a psychiatrist and am medicated and slowly attempting to get my life back on track. I have only recently received my sons birth certificate etc, I have never claimed any family assistance (family A and B) for my youngest child or anything else for that matter (baby bonus, rent assistance) and I am just wondering if Centrelink will backpay from birth or the time I apply? I feel so stupid I should have asked for help sooner! I have struggled financially with psychiatrist appointments etc it all would have helped. I have googled and been on the Centrelink website but I cannot any information. Has anyone been in this situation before? Thankyou!

Usually they back pay from when you claimed.

I believe they only backpay from when your claim was submitted. Best bet though is to go in and see them if you have questions

Sadly, no they won't. They are reluctant to pay out 2 weeks of back pay let alone 2 years.
Do go in and talk to them though (don't call unless you absolutely can't avoid it), you may qualify for a disability pension while you get on top of your mental health or they may be able to help you with other services.
All the best
