First Christmas after leaving emotionally abusive realtionship - no presents for my kids =(

Hi IM. This Christmas is going to be very difficult. I don't have any family, the only one I did was my partners and now we have broken up. He was emotionally abusive in the 10 years together and I've only just made the decision to leave. My problem is as he is controlling and doesn't want this to be over he has left me with no money to give my children anything for Xmas. I'm usually so on top of Xmas but with a new baby and medical issues, leaving it until the last minute means my children have nothing. Is there any charities that could help me give my kids a Christmas they deserve. They are already devastated about losing their dad but I really don't want to have to ask him for anything just yet. He still doesn't see his abuse and asking for anything won't help us potentially move forward. Any help will be so appreciated. Thank you IM's

Call salvos and Vinnies.. They can help with food so may free up some money for gifts!
Also, there's a community organisation called On Track Community Programs which can help you financially. When I had separated from my husband I fell behind on some things and they were amazing. PLEASE call them, they are fantastic! Good luck Christmas and well done for having the guts to make a hard but good decision xx
PS Sarah you are amazing for you generosity!

My thoughts exactly Nicki. I always do the Kmart or Big W Giving tree, but this year I haven't had the chance so it's nice to know I can still help someone and give her kids a special Christmas.

Thank you ladies. Your kindness towards a perfect stranger is overwhelming. I will always tell my children about how your kindness changed our Christmas and maybe even faith in human kind. I hope to be back on my feet really soon and it's my promise to you ladies that next year it will be my turn to help out someone in a similar situation. Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤❤❤❤❤

If you would like to email me [email protected] with your kids ages and gender I would also love to send something for them. I couldn't imagine a Christmas without presents for my kids and it saddens me that you are facing this. It sounds like you have made a very difficult decision to better your and your childrens lives and you deserve all the help you can get.

Please email me as well [email protected] with your children's ages and gender. I saw my mum struggle with Christmas presents and if it's possible to help your kids this Christmas I would love that opportunity.
