Plan for type 2 diabetes

I’m pretty sure I have type 2 diabetes unfortunately. What is the process of diagnosis? Ask the doctor for a blood test? If it comes back positive, do they prescribe me anything? Do they organise nutritionist or anything? Or is it all on me to organise? Really ashamed of myself. I need to get this weight and binge eating under control. I’m sick of being obese

You need to speak to your GP about it. To be diabetic your fasting blood sugar levels need be above a certain number, I can’t remember what it is. My sugar levels were high, but not diabetes high. I was able to lower my levels by changing my diet. Just because you are obese it doesn’t mean you have diabetes, unless you are showing symptoms of diabetes. Go to your GP and ask for a blood test for everything that could potentially cause the symptoms you have. Ask for a referral to a dietitian to help you with meal planning so you can give your body the fuel it needs but also to support weight loss. Get a mental health care plan and referral to a psychologist to help you find the root cause of why you are binge eating, so you can then form healthy habits around eating.
