Son’s school refusal

Son’s school refusal

My 13 year old son is absolutely refusing to go to school , and if he does go to school, he is walking out whenever he wants . He basically just doesn’t want to be told what to do , and everything is always “the teacher’s fault”. He isn’t being bullied , just simply doesn’t want to go to school . I’ve spoken to the school on a few occasions and they don’t know what the issue could be ! He is very, very stubborn and I’m at a complete loss as what to do. He has adhd but is taking medication.

Is it possible to do distance education for abit? Even if he says he's not being bullied kids have a habit of keeping uncomfortable things to themselves. It also might just be the increased stress of highschool. If you can't do that is there things at school that can be moved around to make him more comfortable. Like shorter days or private or smaller class with a support teachers at school? Try and ask him why he doesn't want to be at school. I also think it's possible for them to do distance education at the school.
