Risk of going to jail

Has anyone been to jail before and can let me know how it is?
I'm terrified of going in, and want to know what to expect.
My anxiety is through the roof, I have a DUI and even though I've quit drinking for 9 months, I'm still at a high risk.
I know I did wrong and I regret it every single day.
I'm almost ready to admit myself into a mental hospital I'm feeling that down.

From what I've read, it is nothing like the movies or how it is sensationalized, plus given you're a non violent offender, you will likely go to a low security facility. In other words, I don't think you'll be physically harmed and boredom wi be your biggest enemy. I think the main advice I've read: mind your own business, see nothing and hear nothing if it doesn't involve you, if someone disrespects you stand up for yourself, observe people very closely before becoming friends, don't go in all friendly, show manners and respect, keep good hygiene, keep your room tidy, don't be friendly with guards, just speak to them respectfully if you have to etc. I think if you show others respect/consideration, without being a push over, you will get
the same treatment back. I hope you don't end up going in, but if you do, you've got this, youll be fine.

And don't take anything from anyone, they will always expect a favour down the track. Also Don't gamble, most people get into debt and that's when the trouble starts. In other words, don't become indebted to anyone for anything. Even something as small as someone giving you a hair brush, don't accept it ,(unless they're a really good friend)
