Single Mums with Boys

Can i please have some advice, tips, suggestions from other single mums of boys who don't have much of a support system around them? My son is 11 & cannot see his dad for safety reasons. My parents are very actively in his life but that's it, i'm an only child & his dads side are MIA. I'm noticing as my son gets older that he's needing that male roll model. He is not sporty & refuses to take part in team sports. He has some friends but there has been issues of bullying this year & his self esteme has taken a hit.

How do i help my son? What have you tried?

It’s a shame he doesn’t enjoy sport - many male coaches make great role models (not all)! My son also has found that older kids at his AFL club look out for him in the playground etc. same with kids from his surf club.

Kids are cruel! Maybe try to re enforce his friendships
With play dates etc or sleep overs

What about a martial art? Rock climbing? Robotics clubs, coding clubs, Lego clubs. Art or academic courses/classes. Surfing lessons. Swimming squad. Nippers. Mountain bike clubs, BMX clubs

Big brother programs, older male neighbours?
