End of year concert

End of year concert

I'm annoyed. Maybe it's how it's done in most school, but I feel it's just too much.

My kids started a new primary school this year. Their last school, has their end of year Xmas concert at the school out side, or if the weather was bad, in the hall. It was free to attend. I went every yr with out fail.

This new school however, has hired the local stage and is charging $30 pr person to see. They are doing Jr and Sr concerts. With a 1.5hr interval between, so if you have kids in both groups, your paying $60 pr person. Parente who's kids are getting awards were emailed so they had first dibs on tickets.

I can't afford to attend. I'm glad my kids understand and don't seem too bothered by it.... I'm more bothered.

Is this the morn for a public school.

So annoying! My kids school did this one year but never repeated it. Complain to your school about it, I understand high schools need to do this sometimes because of numbers but primary school should be left alone.

Nah, that's a bit ridiculous!

My daughter was in the school band and that had a cost associated (for her to participate and for the combined schools end of year concert) but that was fine as it was more of an extra curricular thing and we signed up for this at the start of the year so I was able to budget for it.

Whole school end of year concerts or celebrations shouldn't cost money, they should be accessible and inclusive for everyone - which is the entire point of public school!

Too many public schools are operating like exclusive private schools and it really annoys me.

My kids go to private schools and their concerts were free to attend, $30 per concert is ridiculous for a school!

That's ridiculous, it's not a dance or performing arts school.

Not end of year concert. But they do a mid year concert every second year. $30 per person
