Starting my own cleaning business

Does anyone on here have their own cleaning business and would be able to tell me a few things?
Is it worth it?
What is involved with starting up?
Is it expensive to start up?
I’ve been thinking about it for a while now but have absolutely not a clue on where to begin.
All help needed please! Thankyou!! xxx

No one will answer business questions like this when they've worked hard to build their own industry. If you want recruitment advice, best to pay a consultant instead of expecting it for free.

Like the ones wanting free legal advice....

I don't think anyone really expects free legal advice from a forum but it is good to find out from others that have been through the same thing. The thing about lawyers is they don't tell you very basic stuff before making the appointment, like if you're even eligible to do what you're intending. You have to make the appointment, spend about $800 to be told they can't help you. This happened to my stepson recently, he had to sign a document written up by a lawyer only to be told at the appointment he was too young to sign it. If it was a Drs appointment they would go through the basics beforehand. It really would have been helpful to hear from others that had been through the same thing and saved $800 just to be told come back in 6 months.

No individual cleaner has built the industry. A lot of people like sharing what they've learnt.

Taking legal advice from someone on the internet is ridiculous, no two cases are the same and to recommend someone do that, is negligent.

It depends on what kind of business you're starting. If its just basic house cleaning its not expensive at all but you will need a reliable car and all your basic cleaning stuff. Then keep an eye out for people asking for cleaners in your area on fb. While you're trying to get a name for yourself take the extra time to go above and beyond because your clients thoughts on you will be your best advertisement ever and really should be enough to build up regular work. You could offer free cleans to pensioners or something like that just to get your name out there. Research how to get things clean that people struggle with like hard water stains on shower glass, guaranteed to get your name out there if you can master the hard things.

If its contract cleaning or commercial cleaning then that's when it gets more complicated and expensive as you will need specialist equipment, employees and a base, which could be an office and shed at home or a leased premise. Your best advertisement is not so much word of mouth with this type but pushing showing them you can do what they want which is usually a fast, basic clean with things like floor scrubbing and windows cleaning every so often. You will still have to push your business name out there so that's more costs on advertising.

For either one you will need an abn,
insurances. It can be worth it but its also tricky, it only takes one person to badmouth you and you've lost a lot of future customers. Cleaning is a hard job and not a lot of people appreciate it. You could spend hours cleaning only for a client to come home and think you didn't do much. People don't realise how dirty their houses are and that shows when you're a cleaner, people will often say its clean it won't take long but it can be really dirty. For your own sanity if you ever have too many clients cull the negative ones.

I started one last year, plenty of work around.
I did some work with BCIC, be very careful, they hound and pile work on, wont take no for an answer, the portal glitches and they ring constantly while you are trying to work.
Staff…..be even more careful

I gave up, I had too much work and couldn’t get any decent help
The ridiculous things people think can get away with is mind blowing.

I started my cleaning business a few months ago. It isn't that expensive to start up. You can start with what you have at home and build up from there.
I found where i live it was worth it.
You need an ABN, police check, insurance, equipment and a reliable car.
