I just can’t lose the weight

I am very, very overweight. I cannot believe the large amount of weight I’ve gained. I’m so mad at myself. I look terrible, none of my clothes fit anymore and I only leave the house when I absolutely have to because I’m scared of what people will think of me. I eat because I’m so sad and depressed. Food is probably the only thing in my life that gives me any kind of dopamine. It’s my happiness. Besides therapy, how do I get any kind of motivation to lose the weight? It seems so bloody hard to me. I feel like I’m stuck and there’s no getting out. Everyone says “small steps”, but that doesn’t even feel achievable to me. I need all the help I can get. I was also prescribed Saxenda a little while ago but it’s way to expensive for me and doctor wouldn’t prescribe ozempic (fair enough).

Talk to your doctor about Duromine or Phentermine. It's short term but If it works, it works so well. I lost 30kg in 5 months and completely changed my relationship with food, no gym or heavy exercise was needed. Needs monitoring by GP monthly for blood pressure. I tried everything over the past 20 years and nothing stuck or worked until now.
Cost is about $100 a month for meds and whatever your GP costs you.

So just an FYI, exercise is great for many many reasons, but losing weight is not one of them, so don't beat yourself up for not moving a lot or skipping a workout.

I walk 4-6km a day because it improves my mental health, I have PCOS and have always had trouble with weight gain, I'd previously had success losing weight by counting calories but omg that is a miserable way to live, that also stops working, with less food your body just burns less energy. At 32 I hit 95kg on my small frame and my knees hurt whenever I went for a walk.

About 8 months ago I started intermittent fasting, I've lost 20kg so far. It's great because you don't need to buy special products or whatever crap the health industry is trying to sell you today. You can also fast with whatever your diet choices are too! I am not starving myself and if anything I probably eat more, it's just healthier. I'd highly recommend looking into this method. My biggest recommendation is looking into clean fasting because if you don't do that bit right then you're just going to feel hungry all day. Listen to YouTube, Jason Fung is great, Gin Stephens book Fast, Feast, Repeat is good for beginners too. There is lots of research and scientific studies that support fasting because really humans were not built to eat all day, we've spent millions of years chasing our food or in famine. Also, zero calories foods are bullshit.

Goodluck with any process you chose to take, every body is different and what works for me may not work for you but I wish you the very best with your lifestyle choices.
