Rent assistance

Hi Mums,

Does anyone know if single mums who work are eligible for rent assistance?

I work almost full time, 3 kids, nsw and recieve no centrelink benefits.

Just wondering if it's income calculated or based off rent paid??
(Backstory caus I know there will be people judging) I'm currently staying with friends but would like to get a place of our own but as everyone is well aware, after paying a full rent there is no money left over to live.

Thanks

You should apply and put your income details in, I’m sure you’d get something back.

If you don't qualify for FTB A (more than the base rate) or parenting payment, then you won't qualify for rental assistance.
Why would anyone judge you for trying to make an independent life for yourself and your kids?

You must be earning 124-140k if you don't get FTB A?
A lot of people live independently on a lot less than that and survive.
Surely you can find a rental with that kind of income?
Maybe look at your budget, that would be my advice.

Yes it’s income based but you should be set up to report your income each fortnight, whenever you don’t earn enough you will receive benefits which include rent assistance and sPP.

You should be getting some sort of family tax benefit. Speak to centrelink or even appy online because they go from the day you do. You may get rent assistances depends on your wage.

Rent assistance is an add on to another qualifying payment - Family Tax Benefit, parenting payment etc
You cannot get is as a stand alone payment.
You just need to update you accommodation and then verify your rent with a lease agreement or rent certificate and you get it
