Cruises and vax certificates

Cruises and vax certificates

I’ve been looking into booking a cruise with a group of friends and noticed in their T&Cs they’re asking for proof of covid vax certificates 🙄. Has anyone been on a cruise recently and they actually do need you to show your certificate? The group I’m going with some are fully boosted, some have only one jab… it’s mixed, I don’t want anyone missing out. I thought you didn’t have to show certificates anymore.
Thanks 😊

How ignorant is this post. It's a freaking cruise ship where covid and any other contagious illness spreads like wildfire and causes massive delays and staff shortages which cost millions. Good for them for asking for it. Yes we all might be over it in day to day life but it can still cause a lot of problems for cruise ships. The vaccines do make a difference as has been proven, the only reason we're all "over this" is because so many people got vaccinated. Play by the rules they are there for a reason.

Oh no! I'm going to change my mind and turn my back on western medicine because a stranger with poor grammar and spelling yelled at me. I can't believe how misguided I was up until now...

Ohhhh western medicine has got it wrong many times. I wouldn’t be using that reason as to why you lined up to get a trial drug jabbed into your arm 🤣

Well then ask your friends to meet the vax criteria and they won't miss out. Simples.

But, yes. They ask. My parents went on a cruise in November and were required to upload their latest vax certificate to the app prior to boarding.

It's a requirement to cruise for a reason. Covid runs rampant on cruise ships & can end up ruining a cruise.

Your insurance may not cover you if you're not fully vaxxed, either.

Ask your friend to get jabbed with a vaccine that’s now been proven to be ineffective, can cause horrible side effects, death even, wasn’t trialed appropriately (Pfizer admitted this themselves) just to go on a cruise. Geez I’m glad I’m not your friend 🙄

Just what we need, people with no qualifications or experience working in the field, giving their opinions.
The gaul of some people amazes me.
The reason people are "over it all" now is because people are no longer dying from covid like at the beginning of the pandemic, geez, I wonder why?!?!?
I'll take my medical advice from the medical professional thanks and maybe you should stick to topics you know about.

Christ I'm sick of this page. It's always me who gets attacked by trolls for saying the least controversial comment!! It was not the most rude & stop turning it into an anto vax post. Op just wanted to know the chances.

After seeing OP's comment that her party of friends seemed to all have had some form of jab, I assumed they weren't adverse, and if they wanted to go it was simply an option to get boosted, because, yes they check, and insurance insisted on it as well. Or, alternatively, not go & find a different holiday that suits all. Up to them, not my business, not my place to judge.

After your judgement I'm really glad I'm not your friend!

Sorry I was having a go at the anti vaxxer, not you, agree with your comment :)

I wouldn't consider someone who has a PHD in Bing searches, pseudo-science and conspiracy theories worthy of feeling attacked by.

The people who are actually contraindicated from the vaccination can travel with evidence from their GP. Having everyone else either be vaccinated or choose a different holiday is fair enough considering their choices affect others. People would think twice about unprotected sex with a stranger if it put others at risk too.

Sorry. I'm the cranky poster. I know you weren't attacking me. I was responding to the anti vaxxer.

It doesn't affect my self worth I'm just sick of nasty trolls.

The antivax movement is a call to arms. They whip up group hysteria by mixing truth in with lies so that people think they need to 'save' everyone else who is 'blind'. It's tantamount to brain washing.

😂😂 You don't really expect this cruise company to just takes people's word for it regarding their vax status, do you?

Yes. You will need to show proof.

They make it really clear. If they want to lie at every time they’re ask to declare and risk not being asked for proof, then good luck to them but it’s a massive risk and you’d have absolutely no recourse, it’s not like they don’t make it clear

Yes you will need to show proof and yes they do check. Even kids that are too young to be vaccinated haven't been allowed on.

We were hiring at my work recently. Given the industry being fully vaccinated is an understandable requirement. On the application it states very clearly that being fully vaxed is a requirement unless you have a legitimate medical exemption.

The amount of applicants who thought they beat the system because they lied and checked one of the little "Yes, I've had 3 doses" or "I have medical exemption" boxes is kind of hysterical. Interviews rolled around and they were all told that they'd need to be able to provide the relevant evidence at said interview.
People arrived still thinking that we wouldn't actually ask for it or that maybe we'd forget.

Then they had the audacity to be pissed off because they didn't have what they were specifically asked for.
Needless to say, these people missed out on the positions.

So if you want that to happen to you, except with an expensive holiday, by all means try your luck. Just don't be surprised if some of your group can't board. The cruise company would be silly to risk that kind of liability.

Reminds me of one time at my old work someone had written their own letter stating they didn't need to be because of personal reasons and it was signed by a "JP" and thought that was proof 🤣

Or my friend who applied for a job last year claiming a high level qualification they didn't have, because they failed the course (didn't attend/study). Apparently 'they won't know'!

I tried to tell her she'd have to supply proof because the job required it, but she didn't listen!

People are incredibly stupid sometimes!

Good on you for asking and sorry you've received so much hate for asking a legitimate question.
The rules have changed so many times, it is hard to keep up.
I believe some of these trolls should be removed from this page as they're clearly 'perfect' 🙄
Keep being you and book the damn cruise!
