Grief support groups

I recently asked about grieving and losing my young brother suddenly. I want to thank everyone for their compassionate and thoughtful responses. This has already been such a devastating and hard road, but reading all the messages of others who’ve been through pain like mine made me feel less alone. The advice was so spot on, about planning his memorial and all the details only someone who has gone through similar would understand. I’m realising that my own healing may come from meeting with others, and sharing our pain together. Can anyone recommend a grief support group I can meet with in the Sydney area? South west Sydney? I’m having a bit of trouble finding resources in the chaos. Thankyou all again and big hugs to all out there grieving a loved one tonight ❤️

I am not sure about grief support services specific to that area but maybe try NALAG https://www.nalag.org.au/grief-support

There are grief counsellors out there. I have also seen a Psychologist in the past who was helpful.

Important to find someone you feel comfortable with. Please do not settle for any therapist who does not help. This last time I went through 3 Psychologists before trying someone who offered an alternative therapy. I just knew the others were not the right fit. The first session I came home crying but it was not a distressing cry, more a relief. So do not be afraid to try someone else if you feel it just is not helping x
