Period undies for girls

Period undies for girls

Hi there

Are period undies a good option for my daughter, for when she starts her period?

I want to hear all the pros and cons and which are the quality brands.

She loves the idea, but she has those typical questions (which I also have)…

- Can she wear one pair all day at school?
- Does it smell?
- Does it feel damp to sit in?
- Do you hand wash separately?
- Does any smell remain after washing?

Thanks ladies x

At home I change them, when out all day I would start the day with a pad in and them remove it, towards the end can wear one pair all day.
Yes they get wet and smell when ‘full’ and they can even leak when very very heavy, but that’s not instant or usual, that’s when they feel wet to sit in so you would know.
They’re great and reliable for a regular period.
For school I’d suggest a wet bag and spares for a mid day change.

My niece an i both use modi body. She even has the bathers. She doesn’t use pads at all, but has the most absorbent ones. She changes when she gets home from school.
I only wear pads on my heavy day. No smell.
I tend to rinse mine in cold water in the shower, then chuck them in the wash with my dark cycle. She saves her and puts them on a cold water wash, and then a normal wash.
Like everything it’s trial and error and depends on how heavy your period is.
My niece is only 10 and has managed with them very well.

I think they're brilliant.
I have a few, my favourite are the bonds from the supermarket. I bought some from bonds (the store) and they're not the same.
If I wear them to work I use them with a pad. If I wear them at home I change pants at lunchtime, no pad.
Machine wash on gentle, don't use fabric softener - they reckon it effects the absorbency.

I got my daughter some from “Ruby Love” and they have a first period starter pack. They are great and have cute designs along with swimwear. I recommend getting some extra inserts though as she may need a little extra coverage for the heavier flow days 😊 Not exactly cheapest but it’s a nice treat for them to feel good about growing up and have it be a positive experience… well worth the money spent and also my daughter loves her Kogan active watch a lot more now because it has a period tracker helps them because my girl is only 10 so still young and helps her to be ready and prepared each month.

My daughter has just started her period and loves the undies, her flow isn't heavy which probably helps, and she has found the undies easy and discreet. Pads over night. I also use them but prefer them at night as i am a tampon only person. and my flow is pretty heavy they get heavy when time to change, not smelly and easy to look after.
