How can I get help to build a career?

I have absolutely no money, next to no possessions, no savings and a shit box car. And recently unemployed. I have been quite depressed about it lately! But today I just got in a mood where I said “fuck I’m sick of this, I really need to grab the bull by the horns and get my life into gear”. I feel like some sort of business course or similar would look good on my resume and be beneficial to me. But don’t have the money for the course. Do Centrelink offer anything? Is there something I could do that will help me with a career more so than just a job? Work experience (like we used to do in high school)? I just want to be here in a years time and be happy and more financially healthier! I need to start kicking goals so any advice is helpful. Thankyou xx

I’d say don’t do courses for the sake of it. Such a waste of time. Get the job you’re interested in and do the relevant training. You can volunteer in so many places. Hospital departments, doing things that support various charities and programs and people in your community. I think this is such a great idea because doing something you’re interested in makes you feel really good about yourself. It’s fulfilling. And you’ll also make connections and could even learn about or pinpoint a career you’re interesting along the way.
This is how I found my way (it’s still developing and winding and I think that’s normal) but I’m also very happy with where I am and what I do.

Have you thought about moving away, new place where there is more jobs? New start and a refresh on life. I did it and won’t look back. So many great country towns where people need workers and it’s cheaper living. I love my new life and I feel so much better and better financially. Good luck

Where do your interests lie?
What would you say your skills are?

I did the whole broke ass, couldn't get ahead, struggle to keep food on the table stage in my early 20's. At 22 I called it and took on a local factory job. I'd always said I'd never work there.
Well it put food on the table, paid the bills, got me a new car and saved a house deposit. Along the way it turned out I'm pretty good at logistics so I've now been part of the senior management team for a decade and celebrated 20 years here in June.
Sometimes that "just a job" leads to opportunities. Look around and give each of those "I wouldn't do that" jobs a second look. Just in case.

It's not for everyone, but financially I'm kicking huge goals and just bought a house on this money . Im not young either. Im 53 yrs old. This is not sex and you make shit loads of income. I'll never look back now. It's just an idea I've suggested to you here. Good luck in your endeavours, whatever you do.
