I started Ritalin on Friday so with todays doses I will have had my 7th dose of the Ritalin 10 tablets. First of all I have an appointment with my specialist on Saturday and am only looking for others experiences. I’m currently taking the two doses per day morning and lunch. I am barely keeping any food down.. I try to eat before I take a tablet and I just end up vomiting and if I try to eat after I have absolutely no appetite. Second of all I notice after my first dose I tend to crash around 11 before I get the opportunity on my break for my next dose. Then after this dose I notice I feel very jittery, anxious and weird. I guess I just want to know if these kind of symptoms will be short lived or will they continue as long as I take the medication. Just curious to hear of others experiences. I’m seeing my doctor Saturday but just interested to hear what others may or may have not experienced while starting this medication.

I work with kids that take Ritalin, so can’t speak from experience just what I see. It does take a few weeks to even out and then you’ll feel a lot better and be able to eat better as well. If you’re crashing as it wears off try taking it a little bit earlier just for now and that will hopefully avoid all of that and smooth out your day, but then work it back a few minutes each day as you Get used to it and feel ok.
Some people stabilise, some move to a different med to trial. My son is on medication type 7 and finally has a good fit for his ADHD. I found a good fit on my second trial
My son is on Ritalin. Has been for 3 years now. So no experience of my own but I know it can have different side effects on everyone. He definitely doesn’t have much of an appetite while on it, however, it never made him nauseous. It did take him a bit to get used to the “feeling” though.
