My son is 11 and is getting more and more curious about sex. We have ALL the parental locks on his iPad but about a month ago found he managed to get onto a porn site and watch an orgy video (he promises he only watched for about a minute then freaked out). We went through to see if we had missed any parental locks for him to access that. Today I have gone through his history and he has been looking up anime porn (some quite graphic). I don't know what to do. I understand he curious and wants to know more about this but I firmly believe he is to young for this content. He knows he can ask us anything and we will answer (within reason). There is no sexual abuse or anything like that, I believe he is simply curious. But is it normal to be curious at this age? Are there any further blocks I can put on his iPad that maybe I've missed?

Absolutely it is normal to be curious at this age.
I am a complete numpty when it comes to internet security and parental blocks, but I just wanted to reassure you it's completely normal
Very normal to be curious. It’s just too easy for them to find content they aren’t ready for these days.
So yes, I’d see if you can tighten parental controls. We had a devices in open family spaces only rule back in the day too, which I would do again in a heart beat but my kids an adult now.
You can block age content and specific sights via screen time.
you can also block the ipad working at certain times. My kids are cut off from thr internet at 5pm, and it won't work again till 7.30. Content is clean, and for 12yo

There is a setting in parental controls that allows you to give them access to chosen websites/ pages and blocks the rest out. I also restricted content to 11yrs so they couldn’t access anything for older children ( including youtube and tictok) I’ve had the same problem with one of my children and it was the only way I could prevent them from going around the controls I had in place
