Leaky gut

Has anyone had experience with Leaky gut? Symptoms.? Pain? Any info on here rather than Google would be great. Some people have suggested I may have this but how do you even get it and what does it cause etc. How would I treat it if this was the case.? I have never heard a medical professional mention it so thought I would ask here if anyone has experience it for themselves and how did they overcome it. Does it go away or require surgery or anything. I have no idea. I will be reading comments for suggestions.

It used to be a term thrown around the autism community when my son was a teenager. Mostly by people looking for an autism cure, and sometimes in the alternate medicine community.
Tread carefully going down this path and buying into the leaky gut theory.

Can cause pain and discomfort, abnormal bowel movements, skin rashes, confusion, irritability and headaches.
Caused by increased permeability in the gastrointestinal tract.
There is nothing currently set in stone that will cure it - commonly increasing fiber, reducing added sugars, and introducing probiotics will help - avoiding alcohol and smoking - Anything that sets off an inflammatory response.

I had leaky gut from undiagnosed coeliac disease. Had to cut gluten completely out as well as lactose.
