Healthy eating

So they say, "Eat healthy and move" you will lose weight.

Can someone actually show me what you eat... I know this sounds so stupid... but I have a large blended family, I can't be making gourmet 300cal lavish meals for 1, or join some keto bandwagon for 1 when I have a hoard of others to prepare food for daily.

I need a clue, on how to eat healthy for everyone and keep this up.... what do you make that's low cal?

I’ve started paying attention to the calories I eat, and I’ve found skinny mixers has been helping me, majority are family friendly, and I just serve mine with either cauliflower rice whilst everyone has normal rice, or zucchini noodles instead of pasta. I like to swap things were possible to make it lower cal for me, but easy to prepare.
I also prep 1 meal for myself for the following days lunch using the leftovers.

Exercise, I just do 30 mins a day on the treadmill (or one episode of friends for 22mins) and keep at a constant pace (between 4 and 6 kms per hour) .
I swim when possible at the local pool, and do squats when I hang the washing on the line.
3kgs down in 3 weeks, so I’m happy :)

It's summer so salads go down well. Salad doesn't have to be lettuce, tomato, cucumber etc. You can shake it up a bit and try different things. Im a fan of chicken, cabbage, corn, capsicum, carrot and avo with a tiny bit of ranch dressing.
Im also a big fan off omelettes. You can put whatever you want in them and get creative.
Stir fry loaded with vegetables and a little bit of brown rice. Switch to wholemeal.
Spaghetti bols with lean mince and zucchini noodles.
Cut down pasta, rice, bread, potato etc and add more salad or veg to replace it on your plate.
Soup is another good one but obviously more of a winter thing.

1/4 plate protein, 1/4 plate carb, 1/2 plate veggies.

I found counting calories really helped me to work out what to eat and portion control. Making decisions. What I can say yes or no to for treats. And then I did by choice get my own lower cal meals. Or make us all high cal meals. Maybe add something to theirs, like garlic bread or mash and gravy. But you have to put effort in to yourself or else it's just too easy to eat for others all the time.

Maybe try speaking to a dietitian. Tell them what meals you make for the family and find out what changes can be made to your portion so it is less calories for you. I had the opposite issue with my son, he had trouble gaining weight. I spoke with his dietitian about what meals we ate, then she made suggestions on what to add to his meal so he had a larger calorie intake than myself and his brother.

Unfortunately that’s probably what you need to do. Why don’t you bulk meal prep for yourself and then cook normally for the others. You can easily freeze bulk fir yourself. In saying that i have lost like 7kgs by literally only eating chicken and vegetables or turkey, cutting out literally everything. No junk or fried food. No soft drink, i cut out dairy and caffeine, only drink water or herbal tea now. No sauces in my meals, portions are also a major facter. But i had to because i had acid reflux. Now I’m all healed but still just not eating all normal food. Its been three months. Good luck I didn’t think i could either with a kid. But i did 🤷‍♀️

You got this!!!

to be honest meat and 3 vegetables is a great place to start. No pasta, no rice, loads of fresh vegetables and salad. and a good protein. get lite yoghurt and only eat like 100gms, fruit is okay in small doses. don't go wild in legumes or chickpeas, they too are high carb. if you need carbs only whole meal, and 1 slice, eggs loads of eggs, chicken, fish, no butter limit cheese. I am currently trialing a Paleo diet and it's hard but the fam eat my diet with a small side of carbs. I feel fantastic and have drop 5kgs in 6 weeks. My specialist said i have to see see food as fuel, that's it.... no sugar at all. no juice, no soda. Good luck will power is more than half the battle
