Bell’s palsy

Please tell me this will go away asap! I feel so down and out, I’m early 40’s and I woke up with Bell’s palsy, MRI ruled out stroke, I feel so depressed and I know it could be worse, but honestly I feel so shit, the way I look the way i talk, have any of you had it and can tell me how long it took to go away for you, I do realise everyone is different and heals differently but I just need some encouragement right now 🥺 the neurologist said it’s most likely from shingles I had a few years ago & from stress.

EDIT: I have read each comment and you guys have made me feel so much better! It’s been 3 weeks now and I was on steroids for 10 days, not much has changed, I did develop Vertigo as well but that has nearly passed, I have been massaging my face regularly and I will definitely look into acupuncture, thank you all so much xx
I hope you all have a merry Christmas ❤️

I had it about 12 years ago. I knew what it was as soon as i woke up because my mum had had it. I got into my gp the same day and she started me on oral treatment and it was gone within a week. Apparently the sooner you get treatment the quicker it passes.

Oh sorry to hear, I know what you are going through, you can ask me anything on Bell’s palsy as I have had it three times. The first time I was 12, again at 16 and then in my late 20’s., each time the healing time was different, and the last time it was a longer recovery and still suffer with minor symptoms like the nerve hurts behind my ear if I hold a smile for to long but the things that helped my recovery was
Heat lamp, facial massage, vitamin B tablets, acupuncture and facial expression exercises. The good news is that it does go away over time some people quicker then others. Try to get plenty of rest and try not to stress too much as that is a main factor in Bell’s palsy.

Please, please, please try Bowen Therapy! My Aunty had Bell’s and benefited from Bowen so much that she then went on to become a Bowen Therapist to help others.
She has helped many people since.

You can read her Bell’s story here:

http://www.baysidebowen.com.au/about-me.html

It is an inexpensive, gentle technique that changed her life. While you may not be in Melbourne, if you contact her she may be able to refer you to someone closer to you.

I had it 2 years ago, woke up one morning got dressed for work and spilt coffee as was trying to drink it, was very stressed about it! Went to dr straight away, steroid tablets, physio for facial exercises, recovered fairly well after few weeks, I suggest take videos and photos so you can see the improvements. I still notice things myself now but work hard to keep them not obvious, speech can be a little unclear at times. But it does get better, do the face exercises. I still don’t know why it happened and hope it never happens again!
