Losing driver's licence

Losing driver's licence

Any IMs who have lost their licences? I'm not talking about due to driving charges, but for health reasons?

It's quite possible that my driver's licence will be terminated under health grounds and it's really freaking me out. I have 2 kids and work...the thought of not being about to drive or have my independence, is so scary!!! School, childcare and work are not really doable without a car!!

I have friends who dont, i have no idea how they do it.
You would have to move to live somewhere to organise your life around walking and public transport. Until then youll have to wear the cost of uber to replace the drive.

It might be time to explore your options in regards to NDIA (transport allowance) it might not be appropriate for you but worth looking in to.
Centrelink used to also have a transport allowance as part of there payments, so also worth looking at and sons states had/have taxi vouchers

Do you know anyone that's unemployed or retired that might like a bit of extra cash? Offload some of the driving onto them. I really feel for you, I have a few family members with epilepsy so they go through this every so often and it definitely kills them a bit, driving gives us so much independence. Family and friends are usually happy to help out though so start finding people who will support you through this and also find out if your health problems make you eligible for disability as that may open more doors for support too x

While this may sound a bit mean, they don't take licenses away for small health issues. You have to be a risk to the community when it comes to driving. My grandma got hers taken away when she was going blind!
So I feel as though you have a health issue that may cause a problem to the community with you driving. Look at public transport or move closer to the facilities that you need. Many people make do without a car.
