Hysterectomy

I am 41 years old single mum with 4 children, 2 are special needs and need alot of my attention. I have terrible periods every month for so many years and I'm over it, i suffer terribly. I have tried to get my female doctor to refer me for a hysterectomy but she refuses saying I'm too young. Has anyone had any luck?

Get a new doctor.
I had a patient yesterday who had a full hysterectomy at 35 (with 3 children) because her periods rendered her useless and in constant pain and unable to care for her children 9days of the month .

I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago - I'm 41 too. That's so ridiculous that your GP said you're too young - urgh. Do yourself a favour, find a different GP, get a referral to see a gynaecologist and ask for a hysterectomy. Don't be put off by that particular GP. I wasted years by listening to my old GP say the same thing. Found a new one and the rest is history. My goodness am I glad I didn't give up as even 3 weeks post surgery I am over the moon that I had it done and I'm so excited about my period free, no pain, no monthly mensural misery free life from now on!

Get your GP to refer you to Gyno just for a check up/ pain management. Then speak to your gyno about it.
I am 34. I am now 1year post hysterectomy. But it took years of trying different things...
Anti depressants, different birth control tablets, Nuva Ring which failed ended up miscarriage, had the mirena that helped stop bleeding kept pain though. I went to a physio to strengthen the uterine muscles.
I kept my ovaries. They found i had adenomyosis.
Definately see the gyno to investigate your uterus.

You could always ask about an ablation
