Home schooling

I’m thinking of homeschooling my children both primary school age, I’m just a bit unsure of where to start looking for information or how it would all work. Does anyone have any tips or ideas? Anything will be appreciated 😊 Thank you in advance

Depends what state you are in but there are a couple of options.

Googling your states education department and home schooling is a good start.

But basically-

Option 1. Enrol in a distance education program, you pay them to set the curriculum, track your child’s progress and send you the materials. All you do is make sure they do the work.

Option 2. Apply to do distance education through high local education department. They will check you have the space and a well thought out plan. They will want to come see your home and check your learning area and see how you plan to document work plus what you plan to teach based on the education departments guidelines. You need to think about languages, history, health, PE, social development, science, the entire load. You can use bought materials etc but it’s up to you to cover the curriculum.

Your district office of education should have contact details for a home schooling liaison officer who will be able to provide you with info on how to get started.
