Show him I appreciate him?

Trying to keep this as short as possible.
I became a mum really young, in highschool. The relationship was abusive and after drugs and cheating and abuse all became big parts we broke up. He moved away leaving me to be a sole parent.
I started dating a childhood friend and we are a couple of years in. We're both young adults and he recently opened up about finding it difficult to be a father figure. I don't blame him we are both so young and he changed his entire lifestyle to be with us while he sees everyone else our age with different lifestyles. I want to be able to do something for him to show we appricate him and everything he does. With this whole virus and lockdown I'm not sure what I can do. He's the best thing that could've happened to us.
What's something I can do to show him I appricate everything he's done and continues to do for us?

What things does he like?

Cook him a special meal? Make him a card? But his favourite drink?

A nice family photo? A card with a nice, heartfelt message and a little, meaningful gift?
