Printer and device market ..help needed

With all the home schooling and work from happening. I need to buy a printer and device other than my phone and my 4 year old broke our previous printer.

However how do you know what device to buy printer etc

Previous printer was a real bargain worked a dream but my gosh it made up for it in ink and i hope to be a bit more savvy and smarter this time around. Shopping around is a bit hard atm so how do you know what sets some devices apart from others..

Thinking of an iPad both ours broke in the same week but i really hate ipads can never work them and thinking of a small chrome book etc not too heavy some storage capacity but not slow.

Anyone clever in this department?

If you don't need colour printing you can save lots by getting a small toner printer. I'm on my third toner cartridge in 5 years, unlike ink it doesn't dry out. The little notebooks that can be a tablet or a mini laptop are pretty good these days.

I'd recommend a wifi printer. I have one and it's great, you can print straight from your phone or any device. Not expensive either.

We just bought a new printer for home, was $90ish from Officeworks, is a multifunction centre with scanning and copying, plus you can print from any device with WIFI so it helps. We're looking at upgrading our ancient laptop too (the less said about what happened to our "good" one, the better 😫😡😡) and have found decent Chromebooks to be around $400 from Officeworks also. Don't forget they have Afterpay so no need to have all $$ upfront.
