Family holiday recommendations.

Can any of you lovely IM’s recommend your ULTIMATE, FAVOURITE overseas family holiday. And what time of year you went/where you stayed. Pros/cons etc.
Preferably somewhere that has at least a 2 room suite/accommodation so kids can sleep separately to the adults.
Preferably some babysitting/kids clubs as an option too, because I NEVER get a break when on holiday.
Kids will be 7/8 and 4/5.
This will be our first overseas holiday.
Thanks lovelies.
*edited to add: cost is negotiable. We’re willing to spend $$$$$ for the right holiday, We have plenty of savings. Just after recommendations.

What is the budget? What kind of experiences are you in to? We like doing road trips and we did the NC500 last year which is a road trip around Scottish Highlands it was amazing. I heard the route 66 road trip in US is great too. If that's not your thing then how about one of the Disneylands? I also really want to go to Singapore it just looks magical and I've heard good things about it. If cost is an issue there's nothing wrong with Bali or Thailand, I've never known a kid to say they hate it! It's so exciting planning holidays I wish I was able to go somewhere soon.

It sounds like you are after a resort holiday. Most you'll be unable to get (or if offered, afford) 2 bedrooms. Most are like hotel rooms & you eat in their restaurants.

You really need to look at budget, when you can go & select a location based on that. Consider peak seasons, weather, public holidays at the destination & flight time. Also check additional costs. Food, activities, kids clubs can cost extra.

Probably Fiji, Thailand, Hawaii or Sentosa in Singapore. (I've done Fiji & Singapore but not the others).

Asking what everyone else likes will get you what WE like. We're a 'touring' family. We move about, explore, try new foods & experiences & you'll never, ever find us poolside. We're off to Japan shortly with our 4 & 7 year olds.

Try sites like HOOT Holidays - there are heaps specialising in the resort holiday area.

So have fun looking at destinations!

Try www.holidayswithkids.com.au they will give you ideas for all budgets and travel types. You have asked a very broad question here. Everyone/ every family is different when it comes to the "type" of holiday they go on. Where do YOU want to go in the world?

Bali - if money isn’t an option then Grand Mirgage all inclusive Nusa dua but not with it if you plan on sight seeing. Could do 4 nights there all inclusive then move to Sanur or Ubud . Paradise plaza suites, Prama Sanur etc anywhere in sanur is lovely, more to do than in Nusa due and less expensive. Bali is an amazing place to start. If you like culture spend some nights up in Ubud amongst the rice paddies etc. love it up there. Singapore is also another fab place to visit but Acom is harder for families. Phuket is fantastic too Gracelands hotel is excellent. Either way Thailand and Phuket great for your first trip O/S and they are excellent with kids and very friendly and safe. Vietnam is also amazing.

Thailand, phuket, look at a resort like gracelands, holiday inn, movenpick they will have kids club, breakfast etc. We've been every year for the last 3 years and love it, there are tours, shopping or just stay in your resort. Join phuket groupies group on facebook.
I love singapore but Thailand is cheaper.
