Please help, watching my prep suffer with anxiety is killing me!!

Hi there.

I’m writing to ask if anyone has experienced there child develop anxiety since starting school, I understand to an extent it’s normal with the big change, but I’m talking alittle more than this. My son has been suffering it the past 6 months, we r seeking help and seeing a Therpist, they have said he may need to be medicated and to me this is my late resort. So I’m writing to see if anyone has done something to help with this.?
His anxiety is at home and school now and nothing has overly changed at home in this time.

So please tel me what avenues you have gone down and what’s worked.? I’m trying everything I’ve already been told about by my dr but wanting someone who has experienced their child go through this!

We medicated and did the therapy work, and found the right environment with the right teacher and things improved.
We tried without as I agree medicating a child isn't ideal, but it didn't work for us and I am incredibly glad we did as havi ng them live like that (and get worse without treatment working) is no good for them either. These are formative years and their thought and experiences shape them.

How old is the child? Is it possible to give him another year in 4 year old kinder. My daughter repeated kinder so has already turned 6 ready for prep next year and it was the best thing we could have done for her
