OCD

For those who have been diagnosed with OCD, what point did you get to before you needed to seek help? How do you know that you're not managing well enough on your own and need to address it?

I've always felt like it was all in your head and a mind over matter kind of thing but things keep getting overwhelmingly worse and I just don't know if I can manage this long term. I have good and bad days but the bad seems to becoming more frequent.

Since diagnosis my son has always needed therapy and medication. Some days are better than others but by being consistent he so far seems to have made huge strides forward. His bad days get further and further apart. His diagnosis was in his early teens he is now in his 20s.
He was a constant hand washer, door checker, light switch flicker, spun around in doorways, skin picker and nail clipper. If ruled his life.
I honestly can’t remember the last time he did any of those things in an OCD way.
If it was a mind over matter thing, there wouldn’t be a diagnosis. Please seek the help, it’s never too soon.
