Daughter's first period

Daughter's first period

Hi 👋
My 10 year old daughter just recently got her first period. She was prepared because I like to be open with my children and we've had many conversations on the subject but there's a couple of things I'm a little unsure of. #1 It was quite heavy - is this normal for the first period? I don't remember what mine was like, it was so long ago. #2 Do I need to take her to our GP for a check up now that she has started her period?
Thank you

Mine was very light the first time but very heavy after that. A GP is only needed if the flow is problematic or pain is severe and medical intervention is required though.

Yes it's normal for a first period and it's also normal for to start out irregular. I wouldn't be worrying her as she may get insecure and think what she's going through isn't normal even though it is. No need to take her to a GP because she's started a period
