My mum passed away last year, the first anniversary of her passing is just around the corner and I'd like to do something to commemorate her. I am on my own here and all the people I know didnt know my mum. My family is overseas. So I'll be doing something on my own to honor her... any ideas?

I had the same thing with my grandparent many years ago.. I went down the river at Sun down and lit some candles and floated them down the river was a nice.release and memory I too am from over seas
You could donate a bench seat with a name plate "in loving memory of..." to your local council to put in a park or to a local cemetery? It would be something to commemorate her here and give you somewhere to visit to reflect/remember.
