Finding work with no work experience.

Finding work with no work experience.

I know this gets asked quite a bit, but I am a mother of 4, under 25, with no prior work experience nor study (didn't even finish year 10) and fretting on the day I need to start looking for work. I live in rural NSW where there is high unemployment which only adds to the difficulty! There is a local TAFE, and I will happily study but am stumped on what to study that will lead to employment and work with school hours! Can anybody offer me any advice? It's causing me horrid anxiety and frankly a bit depressing.

Why don't you go and see a careers counselor at the TAFE? Business, marketing, education (primary or early) are all good options. You have 40 years of working life ahead of you so you need to bite the bullet, study and get some experience.

I'd go and finish your year 10/11/12 if you can. Or at least year 10 & 11. Usually it can be done within a year (I know it can in my state, not sure about NSW) but worth looking into. Even studying or a large amount of jobs require at least year 11 completion - so I'd get that done and you will have less chance of being overlooked.

You may do some subjects and find something you have a real passion for that you can pursue :)

Think long term career goal. Secure financial independence for yourself and your kids by studying formally and gaining a degree. Nursing teaching child care, these are the types of jobs required in every area of Australia.
You can do a bridging course for uni. You can study online, do part time, there's plenty of options. Attend a Uni open day or make an appt to go speak to them. UNE in Armidale offer a flexible approach to study, give them a call
