Possible early labour? At 34 weeks

Currently 34 weeks pregnant, was at the hospital yesterday being monitored as i was getting contractions, after some tests and swabs, it came back that i have a bacterial vaginal infection (sorry tmi) doctor said its not bad and caught in the early stages. Infections are known to cause early labour if left untreated, however the infection was detected early and i have started treatment, but im still getting contractions on and off, when i do have them they are regular and rather painful and then after a few hours, they stop. I dont believe they are BH contractions as they dont stop when i do something else, i can't talk during them, have to stop what im doing and lean on a bench or something and have to concentrate on my breathing. However they are coming and going, im going back to the doctors next week if nothing drastic happens in the meantime and will ring the maternity ward to see what they think. Could these contractions be from the infection or possibly early labour. I thought that since ive been on treatment the contractions would have stopped all together if that was the cause. I will seek medical advice, just curious about others experiences and opinions.

If you only just started treatment yesterday it could take a while to settle down. If I had a throats infection I wouldn't expect to feel better within 24hrs of medication starting. But as you said always best to seek medical advice.
