Covid positive question.

Covid positive question.

Covid question from others experience. I tested positive to covid yesterday. My sons have been sick off school the past week- 2, similar symptoms as me but both have had covid previously. This is my first time covid positive. My sons rat tests have been negative over the past 1-2 weeks, while they have been sick. Mine showed up within seconds positive. Do you think it’s possible that they could have been positive, hence why I got it but not showing because they have had it previously? Is this just my theory?

No, if they had it they would show positive again every time there’s an active Covid infection in their body

Thanks I wasn’t sure if I needed to get a PCR to make sure.

RATs have a higher failure rate than PCRs, it’s possible to get a false negative or false positive.
If they’ve been sick off school anyway and are likely to stay off school for the infectious period (as if it’s covid) anyway I wouldn’t waist my time getting a PCR test at this time.

Yep, do them again or maybe didn’t get the right spot but yes have heard of lots and lots of negatives when Ill then eventually the positive pings out.

When my husband actually had covid, he was symptomatic (and I'm talking all the classic covid symptoms like cough, fevers, body aches, sore throat, generally feeling awful etc) for 5 days before he finally tested positive.

Now, if we have these sort of symptoms, negative rat test or not, we stay home til our symptoms clear up but we've always taken that common sense approach in regards to illnesses, even before the pandemic.

Yes my kids have been off school and isolating anyway. So my kids may show positive as time goes on. Thanks for the info.

I was off work sick, tested positive second day AFTER symptoms were over when I tried to return to work. Had tested negative while I was sick.
