Tell me all about anxiety please

For those of you who suffer from anxiety- what are your symptoms when your anxiety is heightened? What does your body go through/how do you feel? When I go out or talk to people, It doesn’t bother me to do it, I don’t get worried or anything really but once I’m out, I get super dizzy and nauseous. And sometimes heart palpitations and headaches. Is this all part of it? Where do I draw the line between yeah this is all part of it and uh oh something else is really wrong? Sounds weird but anxiety is relatively new to me. Could my saw jaw also be part of it or stress? Any info or advice is appreciated.

You really should see a Dr and don't let them tell you it's anxiety without doing some tests. The symptoms you have are related to anxiety but they're also related to other conditions. If you've never experienced anxiety before then it's likely not it. See your Doctor.

You have to try and remember your symptoms are real. You need your symptoms checked. I suffer with anxiety. I feel anxious before I go out. You don’t get worried etc. maybe once you are amongst people in shops it starts but I’m saying that, you could have a medical condition causing this, one that isn’t anxiety. I don’t get a saw jaw, only if I clench my teeth. You could very well have an issue with your heart, causing these things. Things need to be ruled out first, before they can brush you off with anxiety. Request a heart stress test and put your mind at ease with that. I just did one. I feel better know it wasn’t my heart. Drs and even the hospital have dismissed me as anxiety. I turned up at the hospital a few months ago, I couldn’t breathe. They told me I had anxiety but I did not. I was telling them, it’s not anxiety and I know the difference and how I feel. I was given and chest X-ray and sent home. I recently visited a specialist who was gobsmacked that, I was continuously passed off with anxiety. I actually had undiagnosed asthma, so when I went to hosp, I was actually having an asthma attack. Not one did they mention they I may have asthma. Only anxiety. I knew that day, it was anxiety. Never let them pass you off without ruling out absolutely everything else first.

When I get anxious I feel a little shaky, talk too much or too little, I get hot and flustered. I panic and think I’m light headed but I’m not. I over breathe which sets off a number of symptoms. I got so bad once my mouth dried up and I thought I was dying and called an ambulance.

Next time you are out, try a breathing technique and see if that helps. Google breathing techniques for anxiety.

Try a new gp, don’t mention anxiety and just tell them your symptoms and go for the tests required. Always listen to your body and your gut.

Get full bloods and glucose levels checked.

I reread this and my words changed with my phone so I hope you can piece it together what I mean. I knew that day I went To hospital that it wasn’t anxiety. Go to a diff Dr and don’t mention the word.

Exact same thing happened to me, 6 months of going to the Dr, two trips to emergency and I kept getting turned away with anxiety. I had to ask for an xray and asthma test. My GP was reluctant to test for asthma because I was healthy and early 20's and people are usually diagnosed in childhood or adult onset asthma is usually over 40's. What he didn't think of though is that I had just moved from NSW to WA so I was reacting to native tree pollen that I had never been exposed to before. I hate doctors that don't test for things simply because you don't fit in the box, like a lot of cancers and heart conditions.

Honestly I don’t think it’s anxiety. Find another Dr. Does it only happen when you go out? Does it happen everytime or only to certain places. Is it every day. If you went to the beach for a walk would this happen still as opposed to a shopping centre or a cafe with friends. If you were walking anywhere else would this happen. Most people with anxiety live in a constant state of fear.we are always ready for something bad to happen. Always on edge in fight or flight mode. It never goes away, we just learn how to deal with it as we go, with the help of professionals and medication most times. You don’t come across as an anxious person but it does present in different ways. It’s also a vicious circle. The more you think about being anxious, the more you become anxious and the worse the symptoms get.

I mean, these definitely are all symptoms of anxiety and you can be/feel anxious for absolutely no definable reason.

In saying that, these are all symptoms of other conditions too and I think doctors can sometimes be too quick to rule things as anxiety without doing a thorough physical assessment.

When my anxeity comes into play it's actually a whole lot of different things.

I sweat, I stutter, forget what I've said and repeat myself, constantly go over what I do remember I said and what I could have said differently, i convince myself not to do things by creating other options completely off topic, my heart beats faster, I get light headed, my leg shakes, my knees shake, my ears ring, I feel like something stuck in my throat, I feel a shiver from neck to bottom and just a huge overwhelming dread sensation falls over my entire body, I bite my cuticles and nails but lately I've actually randomly started to suck my tongue or push it back to the back of my throat which starts to hurt or ill hold my breath.

I went off my meds because one doctor over dosed me on two different types of meds and I lost feeling in my legs and feet then started having panic attacks where I was breathing so fast my hands clenched up, turned white and I couldn't move them. I've been managing it on my own since, it can suck.

You are noticing a relationship between when you talk to people and symptoms which highly suggests anxiety. I however had a B12 deficiency that gave me some of those symptoms so make sure your doctor rules everything out.
