Finished having kids, wanting off the pill. Options????

Hi lovelies 💜
So I need some help. I’ve been on the pill (on and off) since I was 22, 37 years now. I’d say I had no issues on the pill over the years, but I’m hindsight, I realise that when I was off the pill (out of relationships) my weight and mental health was a lot more stable. I am divorced and have two kiddies.

The pill does make me gain weight. That much I knew. Or more to point, can’t shift it.

I took myself off the pill when I was single, I spoke to dr about other options but none were appealing. After a drastic weight loss I am terrified of losing control of my body and my mental health suffering.

Now, fast forward, I am now in a committed relationship with my partner who is brilliant. We don’t want anymore kids. We are sure of this. I am sure of this even if I were a single woman.

My partner and I have discussed vasectomy but without going on about it, this isn’t likely and I support this. More to it but that’s important to mention, it is a possibility however. But I want options.

Honestly, I want to be off contraception completely and don’t want to use condoms. My period is pain free but completely random, can come whenever, and without sounding totally casual because I KNOW the seriousness of procedures… if I am completely sure I am done having kids… are there any surgical options for me that prevent falling pregnant ??? I would love to know more about tieing tubes etc, and if anything lowers potential cancer risk?

If I sound a little vague, it’s because I am! Please help x

Tube tying, or ablation, best to talk to your GP about options

Tube tie. You will need to advocate for yourself as they will tell you you are too young. Had mine done at 36 after a termination and they still questioned my commitment... Push and they will do it.
