I am hoping to reach out to those in Queensland, Australia that have attempted to find a public waiting list for Bariatric Surgery, Currently the surgery is only available to those who fall under the criteria of having Type 2 diabetes which is great but I am hoping that with signatures that maybe our Prime Minister might step in and change the criteria to allow a certain amount of those like me who struggle with private health or unable to work due to weight issues and restrictions to be able to gain a life changing opportunity.

Is withdrawing money from your super an option? It’s what my friends have done to access the surgery.
Sleeve and bypass surgery have high [very high] rates of alcohol dependence a few years post surgery. Down the track it wouldn't surprise me if public health further restricted eligibility. It's swapping 1 health issue costing tax payer dollars for another unfortunately. I'm actually a big advocate of bariatric... But I think it's early days for longitudinal studies and that's typically required for public health system changes.
