Back to work!!!

So I've started applying for jobs to go back to work after having the kiddies! Exciting!!
Problem being lol I was pretty rubbish with money pre kids so I'm starting from scratch, (like I don't even have any money in super bad!!), I always paid my bills, I wasn't behind in that sence but I didn't do anything smart with my money yo help set me up, biy a house, invest ect... So my question is!! How do I adult my money so I can get ahead when I go back to work? Haha
Surely there's something I'm missing, you can't just go to work and pay bills.
**And YES, Ive read barefoot invester!**

Set up a savings account with a completely different bank that you use and ask the bank to set up auto transfer every pay day. Don't activate internet banking and don't get a bankcard. Just forget about it. The only way to access is by going into the bank yourself so it takes the easiness out of spending your savings.

Sadly most people work just to pay bills. Unless you have a very well paying job there isn't much left over these days once day to day expenses are paid especially with kids. Good luck at getting back into the workforce. I have been applying for jobs for over 3 years and getting no where.

Seems like you're missing Saving, and you say pay bills, but you need to actively manage your expenses, be wise about spending.

If you've read TBI and don't get it ... read it again. There is no rocket science or quick fix to being good with $. It's making good choices each day. Same as everything we want to change - health, nutrition, education. One step, one step. You've got this!

Getting ahead is smarts and income. You can't get ahead on a bad wage. Do you have a degree or trade? If not, invest the time and energy in getting one
