Equine therapy for ADHD

Equine therapy for ADHD

My son currently sees a psychologist monthly (sometime bi monthly depending) to assist with emotional disregulation (comes hand in hand with the ADHD). We have a local facility that is offering equine therapy, ran by fully qualified psychologists that I’m curious about. I don’t know anyone who has used it to get honest reviews. My son loves the outdoors. His previous psychologist would have him outdoors for his sessions, but she has now moved on and the new psychologist is back indoors.
Have you tried it? What’s your thoughts? Could you see improvements?

Have not tried equine therapy for this in particular, but I do suspect I have adhd and 2 of my children also. In 2016 my children and I got back into riding, which I hadn't done for 20 years. It was wonderful. As with most things adhd, we arent currently all that involved right now, but I can tell you that the bond with my horse saved me during a very traumatic time in my life. Adhd people tend to be more comfortable around animals than people and outdoors is certainly preferable most of the time. Go for it! He will more than likely love it, and if not, you don't have to keep taking him.
