Ways to ween

Just looking for some suggestions in the best way to ween a near 2 year old off the breast, due to her biting and breaking the skin around the nipples so it's quite tender when feeding her ATM, when she has never used bottles or a dummy? The child health nurses tell me to stick to using cups due to her never using these things. But she still gets up a couple times during the night for a feed.

Night time feeds at this age are usually comfort feeds. So you’ll need to be prepared to stay firm and and teach your child a new way of comforting and settling back to sleep.
It’s sometimes easier if Someone who isn’t associated with breastfeeding takes over for a few nights:
If you do get up to your child at night, make sure you are wearing a top that’s hard to breastfeed in.
Some people suggest putting something that tastes bad on there nipples but I wouldn’t do that if they are cracked and sore, you don’t want to be in more pain and get an infection.

It’s not going to be so much her, it’s going to be you. A few nights of her being cranky and probably a lack of sleep, but stick to your guns and be strong. Offer a water cup.

Bandaids over the nipples and tell her they’re gone :)

Sippy cups. Mine liked them and they can lie down and drink
