Mental Illness

Hi IM,
Looking for some kind support if anyone has long term mental illness? I have depression, PTSD and OCD.
How do you manage relationships? (Partners)
I had a long term relationship end because of this due to my issues.
How do you get through been not medicated?
I’ve been seeing a psychologist to help me process events that have happened.
How do you manage your illness and not let it destroy your relationships?

Tia

Just wondering, for clarity sake, why will medication not assit you?

I've struggled with severe depression and anxiety and PTSD and adjustment disorder for 16 years. It hasn't been fun. At times (a lot of times) I haven't been fun either.
I have to stay on top of it. Take responsibility for it. Which means regular GP visits, I've seen a psychiatrist to find the right medication. Psychologist appointments, changing psychologists when the one I'm seeing has provided me with all the tools they can to assist me.
Exercise, living a healthy life style, acknowledging when I'm slipping.

I hope you will be ok.

Have your partner attend psychologist appointments with you. It helps so much. It helps us understand mental health.
My family suffered greatly with a members anxiety issues until medication was suggested. It was a life changer. We are all happier
