TW - Domestic Violence

Asking for my friend please, she needs help… If the police have filed a dvo application (police ordered) but they can’t find him to serve him, but he keep committing DV, showing up to the house, smashing her car, slashing her tyre, what can she do? She keeps reporting it, but they won’t breach him as he hasn’t been served, and they said it’s just harassment/stalking not a breach… she calls them everyday, but they keep saying sorry he hasn’t been served we can’t breach him… I need to help my friend, the amount of money in damages she has had to pay for because he won’t stop, and the police aren’t doing anything but just taking a statement and leaving him to continue doing it… help please!!

She has contacted DV Connect, tried to get financial assistance, but no one is helping her, She is now struggling to pay rent and bills because She is having to pay for damages for everything, the police are failing her, and she has rung all the support services but they aren’t helping her.

I have linked her with services, but she still feels let down, she is worried about him coming to her house, and worried she is going to see him in public, she has told him that he is breaching the dvo but didn’t know he wasn’t served, so this has now escalated the situation for him to become sneaky, please help..

Those police are useless and should be reported! Get a court ordered AVO through the court house. That's how we do it in WA.

Go into the police station and speak to a domestic violence officer, not a general duties officer. Take any evidence to show. His home address, work address, address of any friends or family, if she has any details. Keep going back, demanding help. Go to a different police station if needed until someone starts helping her.

I’d be moving as soon as I can without telling him the address!

Surveillance and escalate your complaint

Email the police Sargent with the original date of DVO, details of all incidents since then and the simple fact that if this is not completed by close of business the email will be forwarded to the Police Commissioners Office.
There's no excuse for their incompetence.

Its true. Without being served they can't do much. And with no fixed address the low life just can't be found to have him charged with criminal damage. ( i assume this is why? Bcoz he's a transient floater? )

I've been there.

Contact the media they will bring it to attention. The girl here in girl was ringing police everyday and ended up being murdered. Film his acts acts and post it to social media until something gets done

She needs to contact her bank! Most banks have assistance programs for people dealing with domestic violence

Unfortunately, this is the real face of domestic violence. There is no real help.
You can report the police officers or ask to speak to senior management. That might help in getting the ex served. Get her to call 000 when he turns up, but don't mention it's her ex as they won't show.
Check for a domestic violence service that is local to your area. They might be able to direct you to local services.
If she can move, that would be best. She should be able to break her lease due to DV. If she can move and hide that would be best.
Generally, the shelters are full so best not to rely on that. But if she can get in, great.
Best of luck to your friend. It's a really tough spot to be in.
