Covid test, asthma and sensory issues not right

I find it crewl and unfair. Since covid, my son has missed out on so much school. See, he's an asthmatic, and even with a preventer, certain things can still cause an attack, like allergies, and sudden change in temperature. So far, my son has been sent/stayed home, sent home with a whild sneeze, yes one big sneeze... push out the door, and it took 5 days for results. The second time, we had a string of +30° days, followed by a cold snap. I kept him home with a "belly ache" but 2 days later his asthma didn't settle so off for his second test. My son is sensory, this test isn't fair on children. There has to be another way. Right now, he's away again, with asthma, sudden drop in temps has brought it on, and I'm lying to the school again to avoid another stressful test.
The slightest cough, sneeze or sniff, and asthmatics are sent home from school to do a covid test, or its 10 days away. My son has had 3 tests this year, 2 last year, the test in its self, triggers asthma attacks, and I'm expected to hold my sensory child still so they can jab a stick up his nose. How is this right. He's missed a significant amount of school.

He should be able to have a permanent medical clearance stating his triggers and that he is exempt from the COVID tests. That is what our kinder and childcare have done for my kiddos and they are both happy with that :)

Really, thank you so much for that. 💚

Slightly incorrect actually, yes an exemption will clear asthmatics for 1 day absent only, after that the clearance isn’t valid and they’ll need the covid test again. That’s the rule where I am in nsw

Where are you? Is there high covid risk? My child has similar asthma and has had one covid test only and that one was after a few days in hospital with asthma.

Have you spoken with your GP? Can they provide you with more guidance? I'm in VIC but did hear about clearance for asthmatics 🤷‍♀️

His preventer is clearly not doing it’s job if he is having so many asthma attacks.
We tried many different preventers for my child until we found one that has worked about 99% of the time.

The school is just trying to protect everyone. This is the world we live in now.
Make sure you keep up with his school work at home.

The test is so cruel on children, I have no advice just wanted to say it sucks and I know how you feel. My 5 yr old has asd and sensory issues I had to hold him still for the test too because he had a slight cough and I live in a regional Qld town that has had 0 covid cases and the dr that did it even said he didn't think it was covid so I don't understand why they putting kids through such cruel testing when they don't even believe it is covid in the first place! I couldn't imagine having to do that more then once with him, how awful for both you and your son.
