NDIS worker check and AVO

NDIS worker check and AVO

Hi everyone, does anyone know much about applying for an NDIS workers check? I applied and paid for mine last week as I am looking at working as a disability support worker.
I am aware that when doing an NDIS worker check that they look at your criminal history and all other history that you may have including avo’s, I am wondering if an avo from over 16 years ago would affect my application? (I was 16 at the time of the avo and had a fight with another lady)
I have just done my working with children check which came back as cleared to work with children and I have been working in aged care for the past 11 years and I have never had any issues with my police checks over the 11 years. But I am worried that an avo may interfere with my ndis check..any advice would be appreciated thank you

I always thought VRO's ( or AVO depending where you live ) are only visible to Police and the Courts? They are that way where I live In the West and I too am a DSW and my police clearance never had mine on there from 20 years ago

Ok thanks for your response. I did read that when doing a ndis check they dig deeper then a police checks and they do look to see if you have previous avos.

It may do, but there is nothing you can do about it. You have to wait for the outcome. I’d be preparing myself not to work in the industry.

Every disability related organisation is on pretty high alert (as they should be) at the moment after the death of a NDIA participant and failure to do appropriate checks and follow proper reporting by an agency. So expect them to be nervous about anything that comes up.

No they don't show up. If you were charged with something it shows but not restraining orders.

No they don’t. Not unless you breach it.
