Cheap meals we have are..
Noodle patties (cooked noodles, add egg and what ever ingredients ham, cheese, veg) and fry = delicious with gravy
Sausage, eggs and cheese on toast
Tuna bake
Spaghetti
Bacon and egg pie
Home made Mac and cheese with veggies

My kids favourites are:
Spaghetti with Campbell's beef sauce (no mince) cost: less than $5
Sloppy Joe's (sauce from International section Coles) cost: less than $15
Boxed fish and veggies: cost around $10
Tacos: cost around $15
Vegetarian lasagna: cost around $20
And one of their all time favourites and by far the cheapest...cereal night!

If the kids are over what you are serving them, get them involved in menu planning. My boys are 16 and 14 and have to cook dinner one night a week. Initially they had to decide what they wanted to cook and let me know what ingredients to get. Now we have a five week menu (that gets revised every six months or so), so they have five meals they cook on a rotating basis. Same with school lunches. They had to let me know what foods they wanted so I could get what was needed. We’ve been doing this for at least five years now. I’ve always supervised them cooking based on their ages and abilities with only a few minor hiccups along the way. My eldest tends to prefer cooking from scratch, while the youngest prefers basic meat and veg or packet meals.

I often make egg and bacon roll, or home made cheese and bacon scrolls or pizza.
