Relocating to WA

Has anyone relocated from NSW to WA?
I am yearning for change in our lives for numerous reasons and a job opportunity has arisen for myself in WA. Hubby isn't against the idea and wants me to look into it more so I'm hoping to get people's experiences in relocating their families to another state.
We will be looking at Perth and surrounding areas so any advice on good suburbs/schools and areas to avoid would be greatly appreciated. We have 2 primary school aged kids
We need more space and have been completely priced out of the housing market where we currently are and couldn't even afford to buy an hour away so wherever we move it will be away from friends and family which we are both ok with

People are priced out here in WA too. Unless you go to a lower class area it's going to be a logistical nightmare securing a home here.

WA may as well be a different country. Its joked about because it actually feels like that.

I moved from NSW to WA but it was before kids. I love it here. House prices haven't risen too much, they were quite low before covid and its on a climb upwards now but still reasonable.

Thanks 😊 looking at prices on Domain surrounding Perth is definitely well within our price range (nothing near us is under $800k and that would be a really crappy old 2 bed tiny house). Can you recommend suburbs to avoid or good schools to move near?

I can't help you there as I live in the Midwest and don't really know Perth suburbs well!

We moved here about 7 years ago from western Sydney. It is lovely and a much slower pace, hardly any traffic (although everyone complains about the traffic 😆)
We were planning to move south of the river around Kwinana as that’s where my hubby’s work opportunity was but once we arrived and were staying at a friends place we much preferred the northern suburbs.
The rental market is going crazy at the moment but to buy something is super affordable especially compared to Nsw.
We’re on the coast, have ocean views and a large block within an hour from the city. We love where we live but we are feeling a bit homesick lately especially since covid and are exploring our options for moving back but it doesn’t seem possible without putting so much more financial stress on ourselves ☹️

We moved to WA from QLD in 2014 and stayed for 4 years. We loved it back then. Moved back to QLD end of 2018, but covid hit and seen us come back only a few months ago, and we aren't enjoying it this time round. It's VERY slow paced, which can be nice (esp for getting around places and traffic etc). We much prefer northern suburbs, areas are just nicer and you'll find all beaches along the coast beautiful. What I don't like is that's it's so far away from other states and expensive to fly home or people visiting us, lots of services can be really behind and not as readily available as eastern states (if you have a child with special needs or learning difficulties I would absolutely avoid WA). WA can really start to feel closed in after a while (as in "been there, done that") which can add to feeling isolated if you're moving over and have no family or close friends here. BUT life is what you make of it and you and your family might absolutely love it and thrive here. I do find people more relaxed here so it's easier to build connections in a sense. Even if you're only here a year or 2, it'll be a family adventure either way!

My family and I are making the move on Sunday from Brisbane for the second time. We should have already been there but Brisbane outbreak delayed it.
We have 2 kids, one is in grade 3 and one will go to kindy.
We are moving to Aveley which is north Perth. We literally have everything we need on our doorstep.
We were offered 3 houses so don’t stress too much with trying to get a rental. Buying a home in the area is quite reasonable too.
We loved Perth the first time and I regret moving back to Brisbane as it definitely set us back years.
Life’s too short, if you need a change just do it and if it doesn’t work out you can always move back to NSW.
