Keto for dummies

Hi I need help with Keto.. I have looked at it and I’m so confused with it. What do you eat? How did you start? Where do you find your straight forward info? Can you do it when you have a family ( I don’t want to make a million different meals) and I don’t want to pay for a subscription to something, is this possible? If anyone has a easy to understand plan please point me in the right direction. Thanks for the info 😄

Serious question: why go Keto? What about it is appealing for you? Is it weight loss? Because all of these plans, fads, gimmicks have one thing in common - they work because they put you in caloric deficit due to cutting out major food groups. And the main reason people fail on them? They either don't eat fewer calories, or they are so far removed from their regular eating habits/so hard to maintain that people give up. If you're already struggling to work out if you can fit all this new stuff in, it's probably not the plan for you.

If you're looking to be healthier, drink more water, eat more fruit and lots more veggies. Keep an eye on your portion sizes. Keep your eating habits as close to your current ones as possible. Change small things that can become permanent lifestyle changes.

Fruit is so full of sugar. And carbs convert to sugar in the body. Keto is an elimination of sugars and carbs . Fats however have the green light on a keto diet. My husbsnd has been eating keto for 4 yrs and jas lost 50kilos ..i cook all our keto meals.

Megan Ellam, search for mad creations on FB. Not a bad place to start your research.

Try atkins. Not as extreme. More about reducing carbs. So if you cooked dinner for the fam you could leave the mash off your plate and replace It with extra veggies. No seperate meals then. Or if you have tacos you could have a taco salad without the shell and they can have the shells!

I started nutritional keto 14 months ago. It was following a high protein low carb diet. Not high fat as I don't have a gall bladder.
I lost 26kgs. Since October I havent followed it as strictly but have continued to acknowledge how many calories I consume, continue to stay low carb and make nutritious choices and I exercise. But I allow myself the occassional treat and dont beat myself up about it. For me Keto helped me change some bad eating habits I had developed. I ised the help of Keto for beginners facebook page. Some people think the page is brutal or too blunt but I liked that approach because sometimes you just need some damn honest feedback and to be held accountable when you're trying to make a lifestyle change.
