Moving to Perth

My husband might have a job opportunity coming up in Perth and I am wanting to know what the covid situation is currently like over there?

We are currently in NZ and have been able to enjoy a basically normal life (movies, parties, school, gym, work...we are essentially covid free).
The job would be a great move up for my husband in his industry, which would be a lot harder to achieve in NZ in the current climate.

I am quite concerned about covid because we have two primary-aged children and I am thinking about this for their schooling and sports etc... how has covid impacted you and your children in Perth? Is it safe there? I know some areas of Australia have been hard hit.

Also, I am hoping my husband's wage would be sufficient enough that I won't have to work and can focus on the house and children a bit more than I do now. What type of yearly salary would he need to bring in for us to live comfortably off of a single income? I am happy to do some work if needed but I'd like to be able to not have to worry about it as we do now (I'm a qualified early childhood teacher, is there any demand for that type of work in Perth?).

Sorry, my post is long and all over the place! Hope it makes some sort of sense!!

We haven't had any community transmission since early last year, all of our cases have been overseas travellers in hotel quarantine, touch wood! Life is really normal here, there's nothing you can't do. We are closing our borders to any states that have community transmission.

Perth is pretty expensive I think. I live about 4 hours north so can't really comment on costs, I know housing you will be paying between 400 to 500 for a house a week, there's currently a shortage of rentals so that is driving prices up a little. Power is expensive here, don't be surprised to get power bills over $500 for 2 months. That being said, our wages are one of the best in the world, depending on what he's doing it should be enough to support all of you. If you're coming all the way here I assume it's a good paying job. Upside is there's plenty of work here at the moment so if you do need to work you won't have a problem finding a job.

Not sure of areas in Perth but I’m sure my husband would be open to a bit of a commute for cheaper rent options.

I am thinking wage might be around 100-150k but totally just a guess!!

WA/Perth is extremely safe covid wise. You can’t get in the state without quarantining when you arrive and undergoing testing.
Any covid cases are people in quarantine travelling from overseas.
It’s as safe as NZ
