Behaviour issues with 7yo son

Behaviour issues with 7yo son

Our son is 7 and his behaviour both at home and school is getting worse. He never listens, argues and complains constantly when asked to do something, back chats, and has recently started physically lashing out at his teachers. He has a younger sibling who he often hits or kicks when getting angry. At home when he gets angry he will often scream out in frustration, and slam doors or hit walls etc. We are at a loss what to do. We've tried both various forms of punishment and praise. Diet is good, not a lot of sugar or processed foods. Reasonably active at home. Due to the issues covid has created we can't get into the paediatric behavioural therapist until next year. Any tips help would be appreciated as it is starting to effect the relationship we have with our son. The stress of it has us all at breaking point.

When my kids would do this they would be put in a safe room until they calmed down. Then I would go and speak to them about what they were really feeling and if they knew why. We would then talk that out or come up with a plan to fix the issue.
Anger is a secondary emotion. He is feeling something else and its overwhelming to him so its translated into anger. He is feeling some sort of pain (physical or emotional) or fear.
The underlying issue needs to be addressed.
I feel you.... this situation is no bloody fun, it sucks. I hope you can find a solution that works for your family ox

Have you had his ears checked. My son started off what i thought was ignoring me, being rude, emotional, back chatting. but turns out he actually couldn't hear me. Now we are on the waiting list to be rushed into surgery for grommets and exploratory surgery, because he can't breath through his nose and has fluid on his ears. He is getting angrier and angrier by the day. He has 12 hours sleep and still its not enough for the poor mite. My son is 6.5years old.
Not sure if that helps just me experience.
