Must do’s in Airlie Beach???

Me, hubby and our 3 kids are going to Airlie beach a few days after Christmas (staying at big 4 adventure park). What are some must do’s and see’s in and around Airlie Beach? We really want to make the most of it. Thankyou

Cruise to the islands for sure

Make sure you go out on a boat either to or around the islands and the reef. There is a pontoon you can go out to and snorkel at for a daytrip but if not, do one of the boat or catamaran cruises.

I've just been!
Take the Whitsunday Bullet over to Whitsunday Island. No fluffing around wasting time, it's a little cat that gets you to where you're going fast. Includes stopping to climb to Hill Inlet Lookout, a trip to Whitehaven Beach and a snorkel nearby before heading back. If you're sitting up the front ask for a jacket, if you go through a little shower it turns into tiny daggers of rain at over 25 knots lol. I spent a little bit of time huddled behind the jacket but it was worth it.
There's plenty of tours to other islands, or types of tours (sea plane etc) and of course skydiving over the reef.
There's swimming at the lagoon on the Airlie esplanade.
There's a Saturday market at the end of the beach near the sailing club. Look for the chick selling Airlie souvenirs, she has sarongs printed with the reef which are beautiful.
I went to Cedar Falls yesterday (no waterfall atm though), super easy to find despite my GPS being a dick. The croc signs on the way add a little thrill lol. You can swim at the waterhole. There's also the Conway National Park walking trails and Conway Beach. I didn't end up doing these.
I was also recommended a private safari park nearby. Bredls. Sounded damned good too but an injury kept me from going, will have to be back for that one.
Eats. Swanky eat, shout yourselves tea at Fish D'vine. The food was amazing and I must admit the rum bar is really cool. Northerlies over near the marina is another. There's plenty of places for food, I did learn though that the Maccas in the main street is the worst I've ever had. Not a fan of it at the best of times but if I'm choosing it I want it to be not shit. It's the only place I found I wouldn't revisit lol.
