Has anyone had experience with the Mirena?
My doctor is advising me to have one, and I’ve heard horror stories about bleeding and massive weight gain.

Love mine as do several of my friends who have one. I'm on my second one (had one before kids) both times I had about 6 weeks of inconsistent bleeding which then settled to essentially nothing. I've had my current one for 2.5 years and I occasionally get a very small amount of spotting (barely requires a liner) for maximum 48 hours. Have not gained weight either time and I have been trying to lose my baby weight this year and the only hindrance to that is my love of junk food (I've lost 8kg quite easily since I stopped making excuses).
Would not recommend. I got severe acne with mine, constant pain. In the end it dislodged and I had to have it surgically removed. Not pleasant. Wish I did my research first

Best thing I ever did! No period after three months and wouldn’t know it’s there.
I had one after bleeding for 25 days out of a 28 day month, for over 2 years (yes i was anaemic too).. I had pain from the onset and instead of it easing the bleeding, it increased. I went to my gyno to get it taken out and he said I had to put up with it for at least 6 months. I went to 3 other gyno's before I found one who would take it out and give me what I wanted, which was ultimately a hysterectomy.
My advice, don't do it.
I just had my 2nd one put in about 3 months ago.
Never had any issues. When I first had it put in my period reduced quite a lot for the first 6 months then stopped all together. After changing it over, had 1 very light period a month later and nothing since.
I was told that it can hinder weight loss but I am chipping away at it and have no complaints.
It's very subjective to each person.
A girlfriend had an awful experience with hers. She had it removed after 6 months as she has periods last 2-3 weeks. Completely opposite to me.
Lost my sex drive completely. Would cringe at the thought of my husband touching me. Got it taken out after a couple of weeks. Horrid thing.
I had mine put in for heavy periods. I’m now getting an ablation and hubby’s getting the snip.
