Snoring!

Snoring!

Is there any snoring devices that actually work? My husband snores like a freight train! That bad that it wakes me up. My 5 year old daughter in the other room also gets woken and now permanently sleeps with a pair of earmuffs next to her so she grab them and put them on the in the middle of the night!
We know that he should see a doctor, but he really doesn’t want to and I don’t want to push it. He’s worried he will get stuck with a snore machine, and he doesn’t want to succumb to that yet. So is there anything that actually works until he feels comfortable going to the doctor about it? And before I suffocate him unintentionally one night out of anger? 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

C PAP machine is the fastest way to get on top of snoring that is as bad as that. Nothing else really works , unfortunately

Sorry. No. Not if he has sleep apnea needs the CPAP. My husband has one. Tried all the alternatives. I think if he lost a lot of weight it'd improve dramatically tho.

Of course, DH didn't want one. Fought it. Then used an app to record his snoring and he was so horrified he made an appointment immediately. Sleep studies aren't fun, but now he sleeps silently & doesn't stop breathing multiple times a night!

Go to a cpap supplier and get a sleep study! Sleep apnea which it sounds like is something he shouldn’t take lightly as it can cause a huge range of other health issues including heart attack and stroke if left untreated!

Could also be worth getting a referral to an ears, nose and throat specialist. For my brother it was a case of enlarged adenoids

Nope, he really needs to see a doctor. Snoring this serious can lead to other health issues. He needs to get over himself.

Alcohol, drugs, and being in a higher weight range can make his condition worse though.

I had a sleep study done a year or so ago (I'm the snorer in our house) and though I snore very, very loudly, it's a physiological thing for me and not OSA, which would have meant a CPap. They advised me to lose weight and hubby and I sleep separately. Which is good anyway cos he's a really light sleeper!

It depends on the severity of the apnea as to what treatment you need. Some it is just to lose weight, more severer cases need cpap. An ahi of 5 or more is sleep apnea!

My husband rated 67! Has the machine and won't use it...You can only lead a horse to water...
